About Passionate Paws
Passionate Paws, a mobile veterinary service was started in 2023 by Dr. Carrie Kean DVM CVA, a local veterinarian who saw a need to help animals in a less stressful environment than a typical veterinary clinic. Seeing animals stressed, especially the elderly animals who struggle to get around, have a hard time getting into vehicles and tend to slip on hard floors, I felt a need to help change that and provide another option for pets and their families. The goal is to make the entire experience a more pleasant one for the pet and their family. No one wants to see an anxious and stressed-out pet especially towards the end of their lives. My hope is to be able to help these pets and their families have a more peaceful experience even during the hardest periods of owning a pet including making the dreaded end of life decision.
About Me
Carrie Kean DVM CVA has been practicing general practice veterinary medicine locally for over 10 years. After providing care for pets in a veterinary clinic setting for many years, she realized that there is a need to provide some services to pets in their own environment where they are less stressed, especially at the end. I feel that those last moments with a beloved pet should be spent where they are familiar and comfortable. As pets age, it becomes more difficult to transport them to a veterinary clinic as well, so I can come to your home to provide a physical exam and make sure they are comfortable and able to live out their last years in the best way possible. Pets are family and at Passionate Paws, we believe they should have the option for the best care in a warm and familiar environment.
About me: Dr. Carrie Kean graduated from Allegheny College with a BS degree in 2008 and from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2012. She completed her Clinical year of veterinary school at Texas A&M. She also completed a certification in veterinary acupuncture from Chi University in 2020. She enjoys providing care for all your beloved pets. It was her childhood dream to become a veterinarian and help as many pets as possible. Over the years, she has developed a special passion for helping elderly pets maintain a good quality of life for as long as possible.
In her freetime, Dr. Kean enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 kids. She enjoys being outdoors, hiking, kayaking and camping. She currently has two cats, Ollie and Mitch and two rescue pups named Myles and Millie. She had to recently have her elderly dog euthanized due to declining health and she is greatly missed and one of the reasons she decided to pursue this line of work.
